The Board of Trustees is an elected body of the church charged with the oversight and maintenance of church properties. With a vote in October, the Board of Trustees will be replaced by the Buildings and Grounds Committee.
Responsibilities include upkeep of the interior and exterior of the church and manse, the grounds (including mowing and plowing contracts), oversight of utilities and insurance matters, loan financing, and custodians. The Board works closely with the Session and the Finance Committee in the discharge of its duties.
The actual expenditures for the year 2006 were considerably lower than the budgeted amount. In addition to routine maintenance, some of the projects completed by volunteers and Trustees in 2006 included:
While Board of Trustees members often work anonymously in the background, they fulfill their responsibilities knowing that the work they do is part of the overall ministry and helps to make Rock Prairie United Presbyterian Church the exceptional place that it is.
The Board is very appreciative of the many members of the congregation who volunteered for various projects during the year. With a modest budget for facility maintenance, the church depends on those who lend their time and talents to keep the facilities in good working order. We acknowledge Ilse Engstrom, and Carol Sauer who serve as custodian and bookkeeper respectively. Their service to the church is greatly appreciated.
At the end of 2006, members of the Board of Trustees were: Bill Davis (President); Kay Ward, Dave Brummond, Sue Venable, Bill McNall, Jerry Gibbs, Mike Williams, Stephanie Kortyna, and Craig Hanson.
