Nursery Coordinator
Position Summary:
The Nursery Coordinator provides supervision in the nursery on Sunday mornings during Sunday School and Worship and other events. The Nursery Coordinator reports to the Pastor as Head of Staff.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Direct the activities in the nursery during Sunday School and Worship and other services as necessary;
- Maintain orderly and safe environment for children ages six months through age 5;
- Clean and sanitize the nursery at the end of each session and as necessary;
- Coordinate help from volunteers.
Necessary skills, knowledge, and abilities:
- Must be mature, patient and friendly;
- Must possess the ability to relate to children and their parents.
Qualifications:
- Prefer a degree in Education or Early Childhood or equivalent experience;
- Experience working with infants and young children;
- Early Childhood courses, First Aide, CPR, Certifications
Compensation:
The salary of the Nursery Coordinator will be negotiated at the time of employment and reviewed annually thereafter.
Evaluation:
The Nursery Coordinator will be evaluated by the Pastor and Personnel Committee annually. The evaluation normally occurs during the month of October.
Youth Ministry Leader
Overview:
Youth Ministry Leader—10 hours per week, $15 per hour. Requires significant experience in youth ministries and commitment to active youth development programs
Position summary:
The goals of the Youth Program are to honor and strengthen emerging adulthood among the young adults in our congregation to nurture a mature understanding of the faith and its integration in their lives and to develop among them a sense of belonging and commitment to this community of faith.
The Youth Ministry Leader works collegially with the Youth Committee and the Pastor in planning and developing programming in support of the goals outlined above. The Youth Ministry leader is also the active week-to-week leadership presence and point of contact for the “youth group.” The Youth Ministry Leader is supervised by the Pastor and accountable to the Session through its Personnel Committee.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Lead the weekly youth group activities
- In consultation with the Youth Committee and the Pastor, develop an annual plan for youth programming
- In consultation with the Youth Committee and the Pastor, acquire, adapt, or develop a curriculum for youth, that, through careful attention to scope and sequence, provides the academic foundation for mature Christian discipleship
- Lead in developing, designing, and maintaining an appropriate gathering place for our high-school age youth when they are at Rock Prairie Presbyterian Church
- Prepare and submit necessary budget requests for Rock Prairie’s youth program as part as part of the Session’s annual budgeting process
- Report, at least every six months to the Session regarding the youth program, participants, and needs
- Develop and execute a group design and accompanying programming — that contribute to the development of self-awareness, healthy self image, and a mature faith and that encourage mature habits of faith, regular worship attendance, faithful stewardship, regular prayer and introspection, regular study of scripture, and faithful personal interactions.
Necessary skills, knowledge, and abilities:
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, characterized by sincerity, humility, caring, and compassion
- Organized and capable of leading others
- Ability to work as a team with the church staff
- Good sense of humor
- Good listener
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Qualifications:
- Personal faith and commitment to Jesus Christ
- Bachelor’s degree
- Significant experience in youth ministry
- Capable and accomplished administrator.
Compensation:
The Youth Ministry Leader shall be paid biweekly at a salary to be recommended by the Personnel Committee and determined by the Session.
Evaluation:
The Youth Ministry Leader will be evaluated by the Pastor and personnel committee annually in June.
